Michigan Team Advocating for Special Educator Shortage Funding
On Aug. 1, 2024, a team of Michigan special educators addressed the educator shortage and funding with Congressional leadership during the Special Education Legislative Summit in Washington DC.
The Michigan team was part of 225 attendees, coming from around the country to the event hosted by the Council for Exceptional Children and the Council of Administrators of Special Education.
Congressional discussions included mental health needs, staff shortages, and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act funding levels.
Members of Congress were urged to cosponsor three bills to strengthen the educator pipeline.
