Battle Creek Public Schools has proudly announced their new scholarship – the Bearcat Advantage – exclusively available to eligible BCPS graduates starting with the class of 2023.
“I wanted to make sure you heard me that today, starting with the class of 2023, we will pay for your college education,” said BCPS Superintendent Kimberly Carter at a Decision Day event Wednesday. “That means that if you even have family members and friends that are in middle school, elementary or even preschool, they, too, will have access to this new scholarship. Congratulations to you all.”
The scholarship proportions are awarded to students based on how long the student has attended Battle Creek Public Schools. Students who have attended from kindergarten to 12th grade can receive 100% of tuition coverage. Students who have attended 9th through 12th grade at BCPS are eligible for up to 65% of the scholarship.
The Bearcat Advantage scholarship was made available by the $51 million grant from the W. K. Kellogg foundation. Students at BCPS now have more access to higher education and the possibility of opportunity gaps is now limited. The Bearcat Advantage scholarship serves as the next step and will play a key role in ensuring the success of each student after graduation.
Battle Creek Public Schools is committed to helping students receive funding to allow them to participate in higher education opportunities. If students are not eligible for the Bearcat Advantage Scholarship, they may be eligible for additional scholarships offered through the school, which can be found here: https://www.battlecreekpublicschools.org/programs/scholarships-donations-funding
